-River River began pacing up and down the DuskClan camp. It was night, dark and moonless. She didn't know what she was doing right now, but couldn't sleep so didn't go back into the warriors den. She padded around looking for something to do. She didn't know of anyone that was wake at this hour. Somehow, her paws carried her into the forest. The trees, seemed to gleam in the darkness, because it was just raining. The air smelled clean and fresh. River smiled. She had made the right decision leaving RiverClan and going to DuskClan. It was perfect in DuskClan. All the cats were nice, the warriors were friendly and their leader was fair. But there was one cat that River liked the most. Ash. Just thinking of his name, made her heart melt. Ash. The cat that was always there for her, no matter what. Ash. The cat that all the other she-cats liked too. Ash. The cat that she loved. She sighed. He probably didn't even know she existed. That was the problem. She continued walking through the endless paths of DuskClan territory, thinking about Ash. Why did she love him when he didn't even like her? Why did she spend all her time thinking about him? Why? She heard a rustle in the bush, up ahead. Peering at it, she wondered what creature was there.

Ash himself, was also out on the dark night. Stars twinkled happily above him as he slowly stalked through the forest, grey fur dragging across the ground as he apporached his prey. The rabbit daddled before him, chewing on bits of grass that were sticking up from the thin layer of snow. Adreniline from the thought of his prey burst through Ash as he shot forward towards the rabbit.
It was only seconds too late. A slight change in the wind's direction had alerted the small creature to his presense and it shot forward, just as Ash landed in the spot it had been standing moments before. In an instant, Ash was after his prey, swerving through the undergrowth after it. When he was only a few mouse lengths away, he pushed with his hind legs a final time, hoping that he would connect with the rabbit.
Instead, Ash flew out of the undergrowth and into a clear area. Right onto a stunned she-cat. He lay there for a moment, dazed by what had just happened. The next second, he was up and off the she-cat embarrased by what had just happened.
"Sorry..." he mewed quickly, the normally confident tom now shy. He took a look at the she-cat from the side of his vision. It was River, a fellow member of DuskClan. He had talked to the she-cat before. Hopefully this wouldn't be too awful.

-River River looked at the cat that landing on her, then stood beside her. It was Ash. She swore her face was red. "It's okay" she said mumbling. Her eyes wandered off into a different direction and looked at up the sky. She couldn't believe she was beside him. Now she didn't know what to say. How many days had she dreamed about talking to Ash? Maybe only all her life? Ever since she was an apprentice she'd dreamed of him. His perfect fur, and his eyes that seemed to see all the way to the ocean. She sighed, and then got back to the thing she was going to say next. "So what are you doing out here tonight?" she asked him.

Why did Ash feel so uncomfortable around River? When she was younger, and he was only a young warrior, she had just been another cat in the crowd. But now, she was older and he was deputy of the clan. Had her calico markings always been so bright and colorful? Ash blinked his eyes slightly, still feeling ashamed. The best thing seemed to just go along with the conversation and hope that this little incident would be forgotten.
"Just out on a quick hunt," he mewed, still not meeting her eyes. "It got away though. That's why I ended up well..." he paused akwardly and turned away once again, still ashamed.

-River River smiled a little when he didn't meet her eyes. Maybe he didn't feel comfortable around her too. Maybe he liked her, just a little. She nodded when he said he was out for a quick hunt. "Maybe we could go...together?" she asked him slowly. She didn't want to push it or anything right now. She didn't even know if he wanted to be here right now. Maybe he just wanted to get out. "If you want to of course". She dared herself to look at him. Her heart stopped beating. He looked so handsome. She sighed, her eyes unfocusing for a second. She quickly came together again.

A small smirk crossed the grey tom's face. "Sounds nice," he purred happily, trying to wash away the past embarrasment. "Maybe out by the river between here and the Loner Lands? There's usually some good prey there. You could show me some fishing if you want. You did come from a place where they learned how to fish right?" he asked, turning his head slightly. It was only now that Ash relized he really knew nothing about the cat before him. Now seemed like a good time to learn.

-River River smiled when he said he wanted to go hunting too. She nodded. "Loner Lands sounds good" she said quietly. He had suggested if she wanted to teach him how to fish. She would have said yes right away, but she hadn't been in RiverClan for a long time, she almost had forgotten. "Alright, " she said. "I can try". Thinking and talking about RiverClan made her feel kind of homesick. Sometimes, she missed RiverClan. Like now. But looking at the cat standing before her, that thought vanished as quickly as it had been thought. She loved Ash, and would kill herself if that meant saving him. Face it, she thought in her head. She would die for him. She wanted to know more about Ash. Maybe today was going to be the day to learn. A little purr rumbled in her throat. "Let's go?" she asked him slowly.

Ash smirked slightly at the she-cat's obvious unsureness. It made himself feel confident knowing he wasn't the only one that felt the situation...akward. With a quick turn, he faced back towards the forest, preparing to leave the small meadow they had been standing in. "I'm happy just if you try. Although actually getting it right would be nice," he mewed with a slight chuckle.
"I'm ready if you are," he purred, before dashing away into the forest. Light filtered through the many trees that made up DuskClan territory. The grey coloured tom weaved easily, before turning back to make sure River was keeping up.

-River River understood that he knew why she was acting kind of awkward. She knew why he was too. It wasn't normal, when you talk to a cat you didn't know. Making her thoughts move back to him she realized, that she had never actually talked a real conversation with him before. This was there first. And she hoped it would be normal. "Okay" she said, getting a little more confident. "Then let's get going" she said, wind rushing on her pelt as she raced through the trees with him. It had just rained so the trees were glistening with raindrops that sparkled. She stopped for a second to look at them. They were so beautiful. She shook her head and weaved through a couple of bramble bushes, almost as easily as Ash, but had some diffuculty because her fur was kind of long. He had stopped, probably to see if she was still keeping up. Since she was, she just kept running when he stopped. She laughed.

Ash's own deep laugh echoed shortly after River's as he lept after her, determined not to be bested. "Not so fast," he mewed loudly, gaining ground as he flew above the ground, leaping from one place to another with ease. This was his territory. And he knew it like the back of his paw. "Slow down!" he mewed, Ash's voice no longer filled with laughs. A scent had caught his attention. A dangerous scent. In a moment, the grey tom was still, scenting the air. Whatever it was, the scent was covered up my the other smells of the forest. And it was only seconds after Ash paused, that the beast attacked. ((you can choose the animal )

((nothing big, maybe a badgar? )) River looked up at Ash. He looked so handsome, she sighed dreamily. Being with him, could make her whole life better. She loved him already. She looked up. The sky was getting grey. It looked like it was about to rain. She didn't like rain. It made everything look so dark, and that made it scary. It was like her dream, when her mom left her. She shuddered, at that thought. Some things, she just didn't like to remember. Ash suddenly halted. She sniffed the air. It scented like a badgar. But only one. The two of them, one badgar, how hard could that get? She remembered back in RiverClan, the techinques you used to fight. She wasn't that scared of the badgar, because the fact that Ash was with her. She felt calm. Strange. The badgar attacked. She growled and lept forward.
